Engagement Worker (Friends of Merstham/Local Conversation Project)
We are currently seeking to employ an Engagement Worker to support local people to have a greater say in their community
The Engagement Worker will work to increase engagement with people living in targeted areas within Merstham with the aim of supporting residents to develop and deliver a range of community based projects funded by a bid to the People’s Health Trust (Local Conversations funding) with money raised by the Health Lottery. The aim of the project is to reduce health inequalities by increasing involvement in our community. All projects will be designed and led by local people
Local Conversations is a People’s Health Trust initiative which involves supporting residents to develop a shared vision for their community and take local action on issues that matter to them.
People’s Health Trust currently funds 20 Local Conversations across Great Britain. It engages with local communities over the longer term (up to nine years), so that they can determine how and when resources are best spent within their local area.
The programme aims to reduce health inequalities by ensuring that control is collectively in the hands of local people. Research shows that the extent to which people can control what happens to them is one of the key social determinants of health. Each Local Conversation is in a neighbourhood experiencing disadvantage with approximately 4,000 to 5,000 residents
