Our Projects

Creating Real Change in Merstham.

At the heart of our charity is a simple mission: to support, connect, and empower the Merstham community. We work in one of Surrey’s most disadvantaged areas, where many face daily challenges including poverty, isolation, mental health struggles, and limited opportunities. Through our wide range of community-led projects, we aim to address these issues head-on—providing practical support, a listening ear, and opportunities for people to thrive. Each project is designed with local needs at its core—from food support and youth engagement, to digital inclusion and wellbeing signposting and services. These are more than just programmes—they are lifelines. With the help of our dedicated team, volunteers, and supporters, we are building a stronger, more connected Merstham—one project, one person, and one act of kindness at a time..

MCFT is able to run a wide range of services and activities through a mix of grants and sponsors, as well as the funds raised through generous donations. Our core funding for operating the charity comes through the community hiring our spaces.

Health and Wellbeing Champions

The Health and Wellbeing Champions consist of 20 inspirational community members who volunteer, work or live in the Merstham area.

The champions deliver positive health and wellbeing messages throughout their community and create opportunities for residents to get active and focus on their health and wellbeing.

The Food Club

This project is designed for families who have perhaps suffered financially as a result of COVID-19. The project uses the FareShare food delivery to create bags of food that would be worth £15 each and through becoming a member of the club they need only pay £2 a week. This membership not only allows them access to the bag of food but will also include cooking tutorials and healthy living tips.

The Community Fridge

The Community Fridge project aims to reduce the large amount of food waste. It collects food from local supermarkets that would have otherwise been wasted and allows it to be distributed amongst members of the community.

Run by a team of dedicated volunteers this project has run for two years and continues to grow and welcomes new volunteers.

IT Support

This project is designed to help local residents stay digitally connected. Volunteers with key knowledge help others to face any and all technological issues. This could be helping to order a Blue Badge or a bus pass, creating a new email address all the way to fixing smartphones.

Runs every Tuesday of the month, 2pm to 4pm. Book your appointment to see our IT Specialists via Merstham Community Hub’s Reception.

The Friends of Merstham Repair Café

Our Repair Café helps keep household appliances from becoming landfill through the knowledge and skills of local resident fixers. Repair Café is designed and led by local residents, helping the circular economy and saving money for those who need it most. Runs the first Wednesday of every month from 2pm to 4pm – book your slot with our repair specialists via Merstham Community Hub’s reception desk.
